On March 14, President Trump issued an Executive Order (EO), Continuing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy, aimed at drastically reducing the work of several agencies, including the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). As you may know, IMLS provides critical resources to libraries and museums across the country, including grants that support collections care, internet and other technology access, professional training, and public programs, including those for veterans and children.
More than 5 million dollars comes to Arizona annually from IMLS to support public and tribal museums and libraries. More detailed information for 2024 can found on the IMLS Dashboard for the state.
The museum and library communities have undertaken a strong effort to make sure that our federal and state legislators are aware how the loss of IMLS programs would affect every one of us, but we still need your help.
