GREETINGS FROM THE EDITOR
OF THE MAA NEWSLETTER
It is my great pleasure and honor to assume the editorship of the MAA Newsletter, working in tandem with Martha Wilson of MW Graphics, publication designer.
First and foremost, I follow in some very large footsteps. The Association owes sincere thanks to Stephanie Bradley. During her tenure as editor, the MAA Gallery rose to new heights visually and as an effective communications tool. Stephanie contributed mightily to the Association.
This past year, the MAA Communications Committee labored long and hard to create new guidelines for the newsletter. Recognizing the need to limit environmental impact, the Newsletter is now “green” and is electronically posted on the MAA website (copies will be printed and mailed by the MAA secretary to those without computer access). The Committee recommended that newsletters adhere to a theme, have prominent photographs, feature MAA member organizations, and print more articles and information from membership, and, shortly, a new logo design and newsletter title will be submitted for Board approval. The Committee also created new deadlines for submission of articles and other items of general interest.
Newsletter deadlines for submission:
- March issue – Submission period begins January 1 and closes January 20, 2008
- June issue – Submission period begins April 1 and closes April 20, 2008
- September issue – Submission period begins July 1 and closes July 20, 2008
- December issue – Submission period begins October 1 and closes October 20, 2008
Please consider submitting interesting items that pass your desk. And, you never know, the MAA newsletter might be a perfect place to air that compelling scholarly article you just wrote. We promise that your information will reach every corner of our state--and as far afield as the internet can take us!
