At the 28th Annual Meeting in Sedona, a town that knows all about converging energy and how to envelop others successfully, we will examine how museums can be more effective advocates for our institutions and the museum community at large. We are looking for sessions focusing on advocacy in the areas below or being an advocate in general:

  1. New technology
  2. Fresh ways of conveying why museums matter [i.e., through education or elsewhere]
  3. Utilizing collections as your museum’s advocate
  4. Interdisciplinary collaboration [i.e., how to voice your opinion]
  5. Marketing [i.e., through the board, membership and elsewhere]
  6. Enhanced methods for connecting to our communities
  7. Administration [i.e., how to use advocacy in strategic planning, vision statements & grants?]

Session proposals should address one of the seven points listed above.

  1. Student Poster Session
Participating students will be entered into a drawing for a free annual MAA membership and free attendance at one Professional Development workshop.
