Arizona’s Connecting to Collections Project (AC2C) is a cooperative effort to help preserve the state’s irreplaceable library, archives, and museum collections. The program is funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and has four components, described below.

Museum Advocacy on the Home Front

Museum Advocacy Day was celebrated at the Bead Museum. Governor Brewer issued a proclamation which Glendale Mayor Elaine Scruggs read.  Others in attendance included Janice Klein, Jaime Dempsey and Bob Booker from the Arts Commission, George Palovich from the West Valley Art Museum and Kelly Norton from the Bead Museum.

Advocacy on the Hill

The American Association of Museums held its second training for museum advocacy on Monday March 22, 2010 in preparation for Museum Advocacy Day on the Hill on Tuesday March 23, 2010. Donna Reiner, Advocacy Director for MAA was the sole representative for Arizona. (By the way, there were a few states without representation.) AAM made the appointments for each of us which saved lots of time. Once you get your feet wet going to your first appointment, it gets easier. I had appointments with Sen. Kyl, Sen. McCain, and Rep. Shadegg. Well, let's say that I met with a staff member.
