Unfortunately we have had to make some major changes the schedule for the Fall Professional Development Series.   The first two Zoom sessions have been cancelled and we are combining the Deaccession and Insurance sessions into two one-day workshops. 

Recordings of each Zoom session will be available on the MAA YouTube Channel.

Deaccessioning Workshop (Zoom)
$20/$15 for MAA members
Part 1: The Basics
Formally removing objects from your collection can be a challenging process, but one that ultimately makes better use of your money and space resources.   Learn about what goes into a clear and usable deaccessioning policy in this session.
Part 2: Beyond “Best Practices”
There are lots of horror stories about deaccessioning that often deter museums from taking action.   In this session you’ll have an opportunity to discuss some of these in detail, including the thorny issue of “disposition” of deaccessioned objects, and the need for transparency.
Part 3: Arizona Case Studies
Hear about the experiences that your colleagues at Arizona museums have had deaccessioning collections: their successes and what problems they encountered.
Part 4: Q&A

Collections Insurance Workshop (Zoom)

In this session we’ll discuss your options for collections insurance, appraisals, and what to do in case of a theft or damage, followed by an open Q&A session.
